If you already
know these, you’re good!
-
Right click your mouse on
any selected text - including e-mail or www addresses, and the menu shows
cut, copy and paste. Copy the text, and then set your cursor in any windows
application wherever you want it, and right click again - paste will drop it
right there. (use cut first if you want to delete the original text, too.)
-
To make multiple selections
easier in Explorer (or any list), hold down the shift key after the first
selection and touch the last. All in between will be highlighted. Use the
Control key the same way to select non-contiguous selections.
-
Right click the start button
to quickly get Explorer, or Find files.
-
If system is locked after
lunch...try control panel, power management, and tell monitor and hard disk
to sleep “never”.
Setting your
Internet Explorer Browser temporary files limits and the size of your recycle
bin can reclaim lots of disk space on your hard drive. Here's how:
-
First,
in Internet Explorer go to Tools and then Internet Options. Under the
Temporary Internet Settings section click Settings. Notice tons of megabytes
are usually allocated. Set it down between 10 to 40MB, as much as most
people ever really need. (Also set when to update pages in the section above
only update to when you visit the page to avoid unneeded searching).
Click OK and you're done.
-
Next, find your
recycle bin, and Right-Click on the icon. Then left click properties of the
resulting menu. Set the slider to 1% of the disk instead of the
default 10%. Unless you're a horrible klutz, this is plenty of space for
those files you accidentally delete.
