 A Message from The President

"It's scary. Like somebody's just waiting there, and then they send me somewhere I don't want to go."
"I have a virus program. How is this stuff getting on my PC?"
"How can it be legal? Can they do that?"
I hear these comments almost daily now, and I sympathize. Spyware (Adware, Malware, etc.) is emerging as a #1 issues facing our customers, so I thought it might be a good idea to talk about it, and offer a discount special on our services (left sidebar) to help you deal with it. This issue includes an extensive article on Spyware and other malicious threats, and an OP/Ed on the sorry state of what we are (not) doing about Cyber-Terrorism in Post 9/11 America.  For the ultimate security, our product spotlight is a (no more excuses!) great new affordable backup.  How it Works explains how a hardware firewall works to stop a hackers, and why you might need one. Tips and Tricks has a pro tip on an easy way to recover mucho megs from your hard drive. Fun Stuff has a lot of idiocy - check out the fabulous Reemco store and Bad Candy reviews.  Plus, be sure to visit our web site to check out our indispensable Web Download section and free e-mail support form.

Wishing you and yours a great
holiday season - thanks for tuning in!

   Tech Support Corner:

Without question, some of the most exasperating and difficult technical issues we have faced recently are not classic viruses, but a whole new breed of Internet pest loosely referred to as Spyware. In this article, we'll define this phenomenon, explain how it spreads, and tell you what you can do about it.  >>>  Continue...

   Tips and Tricks:

Setting your Internet Explorer Browser temporary files limits and the size of your recycle bin can reclaim lots of disk space on your hard drive. Here's how: >>>   Continue...

   How it Works:

Firewalls - An Internet firewall helps protect a computer network or a single machine from hackers. Implemented in either software (as with Windows XP) or Hardware (as in the NAT Router below), or a combination of both, it is becoming increasingly more indispensable to protect your PC(s) >>>   Continue...

   Editorial Comment:

Why Are We Are Ignoring the Next 9/11?

Opinion: Christopher Cooley
President - The PC Support Source, Inc.

Sometime during my first encounter with viruses in the late 80's one of my colleagues remarked that a tiny program of less than two lines of computer code was enough to permanently destroy all the data on any computer. "But I doubt if a hacker would ever be so incredibly malicious", we both concurred, but that offhand remark has remained in the recesses of my mind as an object warning that if it could happen, then someday it actually might. >>>>   Continue...

   Fun Stuff:

Proof positive that evolution has provided our species way too much time on our hands....

Way Groovy! See the dancing Paul here.  Well, I guess it was inevitable - then there was classic movies in 30 seconds re-enacted by bunnies.  Got a sweet tooth? You'll get over it real fast after reading the reviews at Bad Candy. Ever wonder what your employee or co-worker is so deeply in thought creating on their PC? it's probably ASCII Man does the Macarena.
Got cross-species control issues to work out? Make the Subservient Chicken bow to your will. Finally, with products like Valve Cap Removers and the Cat Mantis, Reemco is sure to revolutionize the world as we know it.
